George Moody
Campaigns Officer, Preston Park
We must harness the vision, creativity and energy of a rejuvenated party, unapologetically committed to socialist values, to transform our city.
I love Brighton and Hove. It is a unique and special place that welcomes and celebrates diversity. However, it doesn’t always care for all those living here. We must use a Labour majority on the council to build a Brighton and Hove for the many, not the few. I believe I have the values, commitment and experience to play a part in making this happen.
Committed to our community:
I live in Preston Park and I am active in my community outside of the party, volunteering at my daughter’s school, local children’s clubs, and at community events in the area. I know that people in this area share many of our Labour values, and want to hear us set out a clear vision for this city to live up to its potential as a vibrant, prosperous, and caring place to live.
Local government experience:
I have worked for the Local Government Association, developing policy and campaigns with leading councillors on children’s services, adult social care, and within the EU’s local government forum. I will use my experience to ensure that Brighton and Hove fights for a fair share of resources and is responsive to the voice of users and the needs of the most vulnerable people in our community. I will work to maintain a positive relationship with Europe, and to protect our city’s positive outward looking character.
Party and campaigning experience:
I am currently campaigns officer for Preston Park, and I stood as a council candidate for Labour in St Peter’s and North Laine in the 2007 city council elections. I have also served in administrative roles helping to run the party at constituency and city levels. I want to help reshape our party locally to maintain a dynamic ongoing link and a permanent policy discussion, between our Labour Group and party membership.
I am ready to hit the ground running campaigning as a candidate. We have before us an incredible opportunity to transform our city, and we must take it.
